OCEAN
> Original Scoring for Octet
"Ocean", recorded during the Scenes+Sessions (2025) project, represents the practical application of modern film scoring workflows and live ensemble collaboration. Originally composed as a working example for the student workshops I co-organised in Aberdeen, the piece was designed to directly demonstrate DAW-based project setups, orchestral template creation, and the synchronisation of tempo to visual media. Moreover, beyond its educational context, the track stands as a fully realised acoustic performance recorded with the Scenes+Sessions Ensemble. It highlights the nature of practicality when composing for live ensembles versus digital mock-ups by employing traditional film music theory, whilst working with newer techniques.
OPEN ROADS (REMIX)
> Sound Design & Modern Production
"Open Roads (Botanic Remix)", featured on the To Mind, Rethought (2025) album, serves as an example of transformative sound design and stylistic redevelopment. Departing from its source material—an expansive, seven-minute ambient composition from the To Mind, To Mind (2024) LP culminating in a breakout chorus—the track deliberately pivots into the botanica and petalcore genres. The remix relies heavily on technical audio manipulation, utilising granular synthesis and spectral processing to create the sonic landscape. It features the interplay of contrasting genres by introducing a traditional drum & bass 'drop', injecting rhythmic intensity before returning to its botanica roots.
